Responsibilities:

Papa John’s is a technology leader in the quick-service restaurant category – the first national pizza brand with digital ordering at all of its U.S. delivery restaurants in 2001; the first to offer system-wide mobile ordering with SMS text in 2007; the first to launch a nationwide digital rewards program in 2010; the first to offer gift cards that can be used on mobile devices; the first to surpass 50% of total sales through digital channels; the first to allow customers to securely and easily split their bill on-line; and most recently, the first to enable customers to order via Apple TV.

TheAgile Coach will be working with cutting-edge digital technologies across technically and geographically diverse teams. You will guide and optimize the efforts of the product delivery teams by ensuring Scrum, Kanban and other Agile practices are understood and enacted by the team – enabling Papa John’s to lead the industry in exploring, creating, and supporting highest-quality, "customer first" experiences in various digital channels.

The Agile Coach will demonstrate and apply Agile theory and best practices to the unique needs of each project, including frequent digital-only releases as well as large enterprise projects with defined business milestones and complex vendor and organizational dependencies. This role will serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical departments, and communicate with management, user experience designers, business analysts, developers, testers, infrastructure engineers, and support specialists on feature delivery progress and/or issues encountered during the software development life-cycle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the software development process by facilitating daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings
  • Guard the Scrum process, where applicable, and strive to limit changes in scope or commitments to the sprint boundaries
  • Perform similar activities where Agile support is needed for initiatives not using Scrum (e.g. Kanban, or other methodology)
  • Maintain process for the teams to communicate velocity and sprint/release progress
  • Maintain process-related documentation
  • Work with cross-functional teams and other internal/external partners to eliminate roadblocks to the team(s) achieving their sprint goals
  • Ensure the delivery teams are practicing the agile principles by communicating best practices, identifying areas for improvement and monitoring the process
  • Assist as needed with backlog maintenance
  • Identify and remove impediments to releases, prevent distractions
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving the transparency and sharing of information
  • Provide guidance, administration, and oversight of our Agile Project Management, Collaboration, and Process Tracking tools
  • Help drive team toward practices aligned with DevOps principles, e.g. Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Delivery
  • Coordinate with the Release Manager to ensure that the Agile Project Management tool holds an accurate representation of the work being performed in support of a given release
  • Pro-actively participate in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices for the SDLC
  • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution vis-à-vis the SDLC

Qualifications:

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Professional, technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills commensurate with the responsibilities outlined
  • Proven experience in a Web and/or Native Apps Development environment
  • Application of diverse SDLC methodologies and tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with various personality types and roles
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quickly acquiring knowledge, learning new skills, and adopting new technologies
  • Familiarity with a variety of tools for Agile management & collaboration in a DevOps environment (JIRA, Rally, Mingle, Git, Slack, Confluence, Maven, Jenkins, TFS, etc.)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, or Business
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
  • Scrum Master or other Agile certification
  • A thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
  • Project Management experience is a plus
