Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring and assisting Senior Counsel with all litigation matters and discovery issues, including litigation holds and e-discovery. Responsible for receiving service of process and coordinating with third-party adjuster and outside counsel on litigation matters. Responsible for monitoring and responding to all administrative complaints. Responsible for managing e-billing and case management software, including necessary reporting for budgets. Responsible for administration of international franchise agreements, including revising international contracts, administrative correspondence and assisting with trademark issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Litigation Support:

  • Monitor and assist in-house counsel with management of litigation matters, including litigation holds, e-discovery issues, discovery responses and coordinating with outside counsel on all cases.
  • Assist in-house counsel with administrative charges, including EEOC charges, wage claims, and Better Business Bureau complaints.
  • Oversee management and maintenance of e-billing and case management software, legal files, legal invoices, and legal contracts.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Franchise Support:

  • Prepare and transmit international franchise and development agreements, including determination of required fees, coding and routing of fees and agreements.
  • Monitor franchise agreement expiration and renewal dates, prepare and process renewal franchise agreements.
  • Update and maintain Global Development Database.
  • Gather information necessary to draft and edit amendments and authorizations to transfer and draft documents.
  • Assist in franchise offering legal and regulatory compliance information, including assist in preparation and updating of franchise offering circular disclosure documents.
  • Conduct due diligence on prospective international franchisees, suppliers and contractors.
  • Research and answer internal and external questions related to international franchise operations.
  • Back-up and assist other franchise administration and legal team members.
  • Assist with international trademark filings and issues.

Qualifications

DESIRED FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Advanced Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Power Point, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook skills
  • Experience with due diligence tools (Navex), e-billing/case management software (Serengeti Tracker) and e-discovery strongly desired (Clearwell/Veritas).
  • Advanced drafting skills and knowledge of legal and/or franchise terminology
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of litigation process and substantive law, including employment, personal injury and class actions.

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 7 plus years of experience as paralegal, contract manager, or in a related position
