Director, Creative and Design


The Director, Creative and Design directs all elements of the creative process for electronic and print advertising media, graphic design and brand identification for Papa Johns. He/she will manage all internal creative personnel and direct all external creative resources, including advertising agencies, creative production companies, freelance resources, etc. He/she will have oversight of the Papa Johns brand, including the Brand Architecture and Visual Identity standards. He/she is responsible for ensuring that all marketing communications materials adhere to Papa Johns brand identity and position and support our promotional objectives and strategies. This is a “hands-on” “make it happen” role. He/she will inspire trust in others and will be a consensus builder capable of working with internal and external partners to get projects successfully completed.

This role is responsible for the creative process for various advertising modalities in support of Papa Johns brand perception and strategic objectives.

  • Oversees the Papa Johns brand, ensuring that the Brand Architecture and Visual identity standards are inspiring and competitively differentiated, and are understood and adhered to
  • Leads the development of consumer insights that will shape the communication strategy and content that connects Papa Johns with consumers across all owned, earned, and paid channels
  • Directs all elements of the creative process; including but not limited to video, digital, social, print advertising media, and graphic design for Papa Johns International to deliver the annual calendar
  • Provides direction for concepts, scripts, storyboards, to meet brand standards and strategy, and supports promotional goals and objectives
  • Develops the agency operational model and recruit and manage best-in-class agencies for Papa Johns
  • Leads the Integrated Agency Planning Process (IAP) to deliver industry leading advertising across all media channels through both national and local budgets
  • Manages all internal creative personnel, including the internal creative team, and directs all external creative resources, including advertising agencies, creative production companies, freelance resources, etc.
  • Evaluates the performance of creative and recommends future changes

Education, Experience & Certifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in related roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Advertising, Marketing, Creative Design, or related field
  • Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising preferred
  • Experience leading brand strategy and developing brand voice and identity.
  • Experience in Restaurant or Retail Marketing preferred
  • Experience working with Franchisees preferred
