Director of Architecture & Innovation

Responsibilities

Provide strategic, organizational, and technical leadership for Papa John's technology platforms, enabling Papa John's to lead the industry in exploring, creating, and supporting highest-quality, "consumer first" experiences in various channels. This role oversees the Enterprise Architecture group that is responsible for aligning the Enterprise Architecture Framework and Strategic Solutions; providing technology governance to ensure architectural and strategic fit of projects and business systems and rationalizing applications in relation to the organization's business requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for technology and team building, with expertise in connecting architectures and automation to business value. You must be able to hold your own in technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy, architecture and process improvements for the Enterprise Service Platform
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and IT practices
  • Understand the company's business strategy and defines an information architecture to support that strategy
  • Evaluate emerging technologies against business and IT strategic needs
  • Lead the Enterprise Platform Engineering team which designs and implements critical platforms
  • Provides re-usable componentized assets to facilitate best practices
  • Develop Training Programs to spread DevOps capabilities throughout the technology organization
  • Define and enforce appropriate standards, procedures, and best practices aligned to DevOps principles
  • Create and sustain continued improvement in key areas, e.g. Quality and Security Automation, Release Automation, Application Performance Management, Automated Logging and Instrumentation, Reference Pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code Adoption, Service Level Management, Resiliency
  • Implement values, principles, and habitual actions that keep the organization focused on business outcomes and customer satisfaction
  • Mentor, guide, and advocate for staff, creating an atmosphere of trust, integrity, innovation, and collaboration
  • Elevate the performance of the team through technical leadership, strategy, and ability to navigate and distill complex processes and architectures
  • Build deep and productive relationships with various organizations, e.g. Marketing, Infrastructure, Security, Restaurant Operations, Call Center, etc.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% if not located in Louisville, KY


Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Information Systems
  • 8+ years relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of technical leadership experience
  • Experience in managing high-volume, high-availability, multi-site, internet-facing applications for a Fortune 500 organization

Functional Skills
  • Significant experience in creating technology roadmaps, blueprints, reference and solution architectures
  • Significant experience in Agile and DevOps environments
  • Significant experience in continuous integration, continuous delivery, continuous testing, and other DevOps-related tools and practices
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and patterns for User Experience (UX), Analytics, Integration
