Director of Commerce Platform & Services

Responsibilities

Provide strategic, organizational, and technical leadership for Papa John's technology platforms, enabling Papa John's to lead the industry in exploring, creating, and supporting highest-quality, "consumer first" experiences in various channels. This role oversees an organization accountable for the conception, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of various business-critical services.

In this role, you'll be responsible for leading teams to deliver platforms which improves consumer experience, developer productivity, and application performance. You'll be responsible for growing the capabilities of the engineers and managers on your teams. The ideal candidate with possess a passion for technology and team building, and with expertise in scaling in-store and consumer-facing online platforms and devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets and consoles). You must be able to hold your own in technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence.

  • Drive projects with a range of engineering teams to build, design, implement and maintain mission critical platforms
  • Platform ownership. "Owning" means envisioning, designing, creating, building and supporting. These services need to operate with a high degree of availability and operational excellence
  • Implement values, principles, and habitual actions that keep the organization focused on business outcomes and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and attract world-class talent (various technology disciplines, e.g. architecture, business analysis, development, testing, etc.)
  • Mentor, guide, and advocate for staff, creating an atmosphere of trust, integrity, innovation, and collaboration
  • Direct portfolio, resource, financial, and performance management activities
  • Adapt and adopt various SDLC methodologies and tools, ensuring that each is a fit for the project type, product type, team makeup, and long-term maintenance profile
  • Elevate the performance of the team through technical leadership, strategy, and ability to navigate and distill complex processes and architectures
  • Define and enforce appropriate standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Prioritize workload, budgets, and schedules towards the realization of key business objectives
  • Ensure appropriate types and levels of architecture review, code review, testing, documentation, monitoring, escalation, and metrics to ensure the ongoing Digital Health and production support of our platforms
  • Build deep and productive relationships with various organizations, e.g. Marketing, Infrastructure, Security, Restaurant Operations, Call Center, etc.
  • Create and sustain continued improvement in key areas, e.g. Emerging Digital Channels, Industry Partnerships, User Experience, Quality Automation, Release Automation, Application Performance Management, Reference Architecture, Solution Architecture, Technology Adoption, Service Level Management, Resiliency, Integration, and Analytics

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Information Systems
  • 8+ years relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of technical leadership experience
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams of 30 or more
  • Experience in managing a multi-million dollar budget

Functional Skills

  • Experience in developing and managing an innovation portfolio
  • Significant experience in Agile and DevOps environments
  • Significant Experience in Micro services architecture and API centric technology strategy
  • Significant Experience in building and supporting Infrastructure as Code
  • Significant experience in continuous integration, continuous delivery, continuous testing, and other DevOps-related tools and practices
  • Experience in creating reference and solution architectures
  • Experience in digital payment instruments and platforms
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and patterns for User Experience (UX), Analytics, Integration
