Job Summary

The Director, Restaurant profitability is responsible for driving innovative solutions to maximize restaurant-level profitability (EBITDA). This role will ensure a continuous push towards creating a best-in-class economic model for Papa Johns restaurants with industry-leading operating margins and ROI. This leader will strive to envision the restaurant of the future to adapt to ever-changing customer trends, macroeconomic/geopolitical pressures, and team member requirements. Areas of focus will include, but not limited to; operating efficiencies, productivity KPI’s, sales data, controllable costs management (Labor/Food), fixed costs optimization, benchmarking tools, vendor assessment and management, menu pricing, training investment, cash management processes, etc. This role will require extreme collaboration across multiple stakeholders through the ideation process and will ensure alignment of objectives, progression of timelines, and testing and execution of initiatives. He/she challenges assumptions and identifies innovative solutions to reduce direct or indirect cost factors to minimize/eliminate inefficiencies and increase restaurant-level profitability.  This role is responsible for substantially increasing PJI’s margin through strong partnerships with product leaders, trend analyses and continuous monitoring of best practices, innovation, industry trends and customer behaviors.

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)

  • Review daily restaurant KPI’s for performance trends and to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Financial analysis / P&L deep dive to compare results versus budget/forecast (period, quarterly, annually)
  • Assessing and setting productivity models and targets to optimize efficiencies and deliver superior customer experience
  • Cross-functional collaboration with various stakeholders such as; Revenue Management for pricing strategies, IT for solutions, Finance for modeling and planning, Marketing for daypart optimization, etc. 
  • Close collaborations with FP&A in building Annual Operating Plans and Long Range Growth Plans utilizing restaurant economic assumptions as input
  • Reviewing and optimizing manager bonus plans to ensure incentives are tied to positive results and profitably accretive to the organization
  • Explore new tools, software, process to improve productivity and strengthen success potential for restaurant managers
  • Industry involvement to stay abreast of future trends, tools, innovation, etc.
  • Create and manage P&L Tools to provide benchmarking guidance to franchisees
