Director, Social Media


The Director, Social Media is responsible for the social media strategy and activation of all messaging, feedback, branding and Papa John’s presence across social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube) ensuring alignment with the company brand, current campaigns, customer attraction and retention, mission, vision, and values. This position will work with our outside advertising firm to identify trends and engagement opportunities, manage content flow and contributor/topic development, as well as report metrics with relevant data analysis. He/she oversees all Papa John’s social media and online platforms as well as supervises related staff. 


This role will lead the multifaceted Social Media programs and campaigns for PJI, furthering public brand awareness, communication, advocacy, and brand-building initiatives 


  • Identifies, creates and manages the social media strategy, guidelines, and content across all owned and third-party platforms in support of the monthly content calendar to drive real-time conversations 

  • Proactively engages with consumers, partners (in particular, loyalty and media/field marketing), brands, local markets and influencers, managing the integrated and consistent execution of social media strategy to support the Brand strategy 

  • Triages and manages customer support issues across all channels 

  • Follows the Standard Operating Procedures for escalating response to posts that involve imminent harm to individuals or pose a critical brand threat 

  • Creates and delivers content, engagement and community analytics reports to identify and integrate into social media strategies 

  • Monitors client channels, competitor channels and overall social landscape to identify/report on content/posts performance 

  • Reports channel/platform shifts and changes (specs, algorithms, audiences, etc.) to Marketing Leadership

  • Keen knowledge and insights to target markets and campaigns (i.e., the NFL and other sports avenues) 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply knowledge of Social Space (i.e., changes in FB algorithms, Twitter profile updates, photo/video upload specs), as well as experience creating a conversation calendar

Education, Experience & Certifications: 


  • 5 – 7 years of experience in related roles 

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferred marketing, advertising, or communications 

  • Ability to travel up to 25% 

  • Experience with leading and managing corporate social media platforms and best practices, digital campaigns 

  • Experience in Restaurant or Retail Operations preferred
