Manager, Internal Communications – Storytelling & Channels 

The Manager, Internal Communications will play a lead role in concepting, developing and distributing day-to-day news, announcements and compelling stories to engage Papa Johns team members and franchisees. 

They will build strong, collaborative relationships with business experts to identify, curate and produce high impact storytelling content, with a focus on bringing to life Papa Johns’ purpose, values and culture. This multifaceted, culturally-savvy team player will build and manage both long and short-term editorial calendars, understand how to reach diverse, widespread audiences with the right channel/messaging mix, and have a desire to continually innovate and improve the company’s internal communications efforts.  

This role reports to the company’s Senior Director, Internal Communications, and will work collaboratively across the broader Communications & Corporate Affairs function to support multi-audience storytelling approaches.   

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage the master Internal Communications editorial calendar; ensuring it’s kept up to date on a weekly basis and ensuring that future campaigns are planned in a proactive manner 

  • Develop the internal communication team’s overall digital storytelling approach across core channels including Yammer (enterprise social network), SLICE (intranet site), Email Newsletters and other targeted channels as needed. 

  • Partner with the external communications and social media teams to create and cross-promote 360-degree stories across both internal and external channels (i.e., Papa Johns’ external blog and LinkedIn)  

  • Establish collaborative relationships with subject matter experts and create efficient processes for generating strong story leads throughout the business.  

  • Concept, curate and develop creative content and channel strategies on a variety of company news topics, including brand promotions, product and technology innovations, and corporate responsibility efforts 

  • Support the Senior Manager, Internal Communications in crafting and executing a best-in-class DEI storytelling campaign.  

  • Oversee ongoing content maintenance for SLICE (Papa Johns intranet). Serve as a key workstream lead for SLICE 2.0 in partnership with IT to modernize and improve the intranet’s functionality and features.  

  • Create innovative communications plans and tactics to engage employees in key tentpole campaigns throughout the year (i.e., Shaq-a-roni, Annual Day of Service) 

  • Measure employee feedback and sentiment across internal communications channels; use a data-driven approach to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 

  • Craft, ghostwrite and edit email content, articles and video. Manage publishing and distribution of content across various internal communications channels.   

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • 5+ years of corporate or agency communications experience (internal communications and/or digital media experience preferred) 

  • Degree in Journalism, Communications or PR 

  • Experience with content planning, production and publishing across a variety of mediums (web, blog, video, email, social media, etc.) 

  • Proven ability to bring creative, innovative ideas and solutions to enhance existing communications channels 

  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills 

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills; understanding of how to customize messages for different audiences and channels 

  • Experience using or managing a variety of internal and external communications technologies; desire to learn new platforms and become a publishing expert 

  • Proactive and highly organized with a keen attention to detail 

  • Creative eye for design; expertise in creating eye-catching content in a digital-first world 

  • Storytelling experience focused on diversity, equity, inclusion and / or social impact topics preferred 

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and comfortable managing tight deadlines 

  • A passion for pizza and the team members who make great pizza for our guests
