Procurement Manager



Manage strategic corporate-wide procurement programs for the organization. Create purchasing strategies within the organization by identifying and capitalizing on cross-functional opportunities to create efficiencies, manage quality and leverage vendor volumes company wide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effectively manage a network of 20+ supply partners who are responsible for $100 million in packaging items purchased for PJ Food Service Quality Control Centers.
  • Perform market and logistical analysis to formulate and execute efficient purchasing strategies
  • Develop and manage programs to control the price risk associated with in the area of responsibility
  • Collaborate with R&D on new packaging innovation, graphic/structural changes, testing protocol, and manage transition plans
  • Manage annual and periodic budget and cost projections for purchased items
  • Identify, negotiate, and implement supply agreements, formula-based pricing and freight and production components
  • Develop forecasts and monitor market trends and achievement process for commodity purchases
  • Responsible for the establishment and execution of freight, banking terms, customer service lead times and minimum inventory requirements
  • Perform program management responsibilities for new packaging to support the promotional calendar with cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to develop and drive cooperative business plans with key suppliers.


  • Ability to effectively communicate and give direction verbally and in writing in English required
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills required
  • Knowledge of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures required
  • Proficient PC skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, Peoplesoft, and Jaggaer
  • Ability to work cross functionally within multiple departments and cultures
  • Advanced organizational skills, excellent follow-up skills, and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, rapid changing environment
  • High level financial and analytical skills with reliance on data to drive decisions and the ability to conceptualize solutions


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Certified Purchasing Supply Manager certification (CPSM) preferred
  • Understanding of food industry
  • Background in agricultural preferred
  • Minimum of four years’ experience required in a purchasing or supply chain function


While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The team member is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, repetitive use (or motion) of arms and hands, bend and stoop, and lift up to 10 pounds.


Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
