Senior Manager, Internal Communications – People & Culture

The Senior Manager, Internal Communications – People & Culture will serve as a collaborative partner with the Papa Johns People Operations team, developing strategic communications campaigns spanning key Human Resources, organizational and cultural change initiatives.

The Senior Manager will also serve as a thought leader and strategic storytelling partner to our DEI team and will develop a long-term communication plan to share Papa Johns’ progress against its top strategic priority: to build a culture of leaders who believe in diversity, inclusivity and winning.

Specifically, the Senior Manager will formalize the partnership model between People Operations and Communications, including the development of an annual communications calendar and the planning and prioritization of key campaigns throughout the year. The Senior Manager will oversee and partner with external agency resources to guide the creation of People Operations campaign materials that support enterprise-wide change initiatives, such as Total Rewards & Recognition, Career Development, Performance Management, Open Enrollment, Ethics and Compliance and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the People Operations leadership team (Total Rewards, Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, Ethics & Compliance, and Diversity/Equity/Inclusion/Engagement) to identify, prioritize and calendarize key employee communications campaigns throughout the year
  • Develop strategic communication plans to support the success of key organizational change initiatives and programs, while managing the tactical execution of communications across the company’s internal communications channels (Intranet, Email, Yammer, Webcasts)
  • Create a long-term Diversity, Equity and Inclusion communication strategy, identifying and executing key storytelling moments throughout the year. Provide support to the DEI team in communicating programming that supports the growth of our Inclusion Resource Groups, celebrations for cultural heritage months and other DEI team-led activities.
  • Oversee a new People Leader communications strategy, channel(s) and resources to empower Papa Johns people managers to effectively communicate upcoming change initiatives among their teams.
  • Build a new process and suite of self-service tools and resources to support functional leaders in effectively communicating people and organizational changes
  • Maintain all internal communications channels and routines that house People Operations information, ensuring channels and materials are always up to date
  • Write key messages, launch emails, intranet articles, talking points and social platform posts that support People and Culture initiatives enterprise-wide, while providing creative direction to agency partners to produce stand-out campaigns that reflect our company and brand voice.
  • Support the SLICE 2.0 workstream, a partnership with IT to enhance our company intranet’s useability and features.
  • Provide as-needed communications counsel and support to cross-functional workstreams that aim to enhance Papa Johns’ culture, such as Rewards & Recognition and the Have Fun Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years of experience in corporate and/or internal communications (HR / DEI communications experience is a plus)
  • Strategic and tactical experience developing and implementing successful change communications campaigns
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to influence senior leaders to improve outcomes
  • Excellent project and program management skills
  • Experience communicating through significant culture and/or organizational changes
  • Demonstrates thought leadership and deep understanding of current DEI and social impact-related topics and trends
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, with the keen ability to develop the right messages for the right audiences
  • Strong creative storytelling skills; enjoys the challenging of finding and developing story ideas into creative, multi-channel campaigns
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; has the ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize them as needed
  • Innovative mindset: willing to test and learn through new approaches; passion for engaging employees and leading them through change
  • Experience developing people leader-centric communications strategies is a plus
  • Experience managing agencies or working within an agency is a plus
