Sr Analyst/Buyer

THIS IS A CORPORATE POSITION

The Sr Analyst/Buyer provides commodity market data collection and analytical support for commodity driven ingredients for the North America Director of Commodity Management. Participates in the strategic purchasing process for minor ingredients and seasonings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effectively manages a network of supply partners responsible for $50M in minor ingredients and seasonings for PJ Food Service Quality Control Centers
  • Perform market and logistical analysis to formulate and execute efficient purchasing strategies.
  • Analyze and evaluate suppliers bid and proposals, negotiate prices, and commitment to purchases
  • Assist the Director Commodity Management in the development, execution and maintenance of contracts, and document contract information
  • Researches and provides weekly commodity market reports, monitors Risk Management Program coverage progress, planting cycles, weather, force majeure events, etc.
  • Implement monthly cheese, meats, seasoning, and minor ingredients cost changes, manages daily holds report reconciliation, and manages new supplier system set-up
  • Manages the annual and periodic food and packaging budget process with the Direct Procurement and Finance Teams
  • Prepare for and participate in both external supplier and internal cross functional meetings, followed by written recap/action item documentation and communications
  • Monitors weekly Core Inventory Report and communicates accordingly with supply base

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to effectively communicate and give direction verbally and in writing in English required
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills required
  • Knowledge of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures required
  • Proficient PC skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, Peoplesoft, and Jaggaer
  • Ability to work cross functionally within multiple departments and cultures
  • Advanced organizational skills, excellent follow-up skills, and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, rapid changing environment
  • High level financial and analytical skills with reliance on data to drive decisions and the ability to conceptualize solutions

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Understanding of food industry
  • Background in agricultural preferred
  • Minimum of four years’ experience required in a purchasing or supply chain function
