Job Summary
The Entry Level Delivery Specialist provides driving opportunities to CDL drivers with less than 1 year of CDL driving experience. An Entry Level Delivery Specialist will be assigned to a training drive team through his/her apprenticeship and will act in the capacity of a professional driver, providing timely and accurate delivery of product to and from Papa John’s restaurants/affiliates until he/she successfully completes the apprenticeship program. This role will perform all duties of a Delivery Specialist within the parameters of the apprenticeship program, company policies and procedures, and state/federal laws.
Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)
- Perform required apprenticeship training within designated time periods.
Attend and successfully complete the CDL Finishing school within the first 3 months of hire.
Transport product from quality control center to appropriate location in a safe and timely manner.
Load and unload product in a safe and proper manner, with or without assistance from individuals or freight handling equipment, ensuring minimal damage to product and Papa Johns restaurants.
Secure all shipments by tying down or bracing cargo (i.e. load locks) within the trailer.
Inspect the tractor and trailer for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips. Submit a required report documenting the condition of the equipment at the beginning and at the end of the trip.
Reconcile shipping paperwork (invoices) and load sheets to determine if the load on the trailer matches both the load sheets and the invoices.
Install and remove tire chains as needed per weather conditions.
Maneuver the vehicle safely at various speeds and/or in difficult situations including, but not limited to, heavy traffic, inclement weather and/or in areas of tight (limited) maneuvering.
Maintain all required records for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases and mileage trip reports and ensure all required shipment documentation (manifest, invoices, delivery invoices or shipping orders) are available for inspection.
Comply with all federal, state, local regulations and laws (of the areas driven through) and company policies for the safe operation of commercial motor vehicle.
Promptly report any delays in the delivery route, providing dispatch with details regarding the cause and impact of the delay.
Develop and maintain a professional and effective relationship with customers.
Attend all mandatory QCC Delivery Specialist meetings.
