Job Summary

The Logistics Inventory Planner is responsible for managing inventory purchase orders from our QCCs which consists of forecasting, ordering, analyzing and tracking all products distributed by our QCCs.  This position will also effectively manage the logistical planning and assignment of inbound freight. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide backup support to inbound transportation team to manage freight movement generated by Transportation Management Software (TMS) and perform track and trace analysis on overdue pickups and/or deliveries. 

  • Monitor freight movement generated by Transportation Management Software (TMS), scrutinize system planned freight movement carefully to ensure the most cost-effective and timely pickup and delivery of loads. 

  • Perform track and trace analysis on overdue pickups and/or deliveries and respond to questions or requests from managers, buyers and facilities regarding collect shipments 

  • Set up and provide oversight for expedited loads; providing updates after hours 

  • Track loads over the weekend in accordance to the on-call schedule. 

  • Negotiates carrier rates for optimal savings for the inbound network. 

  • Participates in accessorial, budget and carrier performance reviews. 

  • Support Inbound Transportation department as needed. 

  • Forecast, order, analyze and track all inventory products distributed by assigned distribution centers. 

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure continuous availability for distribution to the end user - restaurants. 

  • Prepare special reports, statistics and graphs used to analyze and forecast operating needs. 

  • Manage new product/monthly promotional offer roll-outs working with cross-functional internal and external teams made up of Marketing, Corporate Operations, Ops Training, Support Services, R&D/QA, Vendors and Distribution Centers. 

  • Identify and manage to minimize obsolete/surplus inventories. 

  • Improve PJFS' profitability through logistical cost reductions, cost avoidances, and process improvements on a cross-functional basis.   

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
